January has been a funny old month. I can’t help but say, I’m glad to see the end of it. It’s been a long, cold and poor month and the end means to me, that Spring isn’t too far away.
For me, January has been all about getting back into a routine. After the blur that is Christmas, the constant eating, drinking and the rush of the festive period, my routine was everywhere. This January, I got back to work. I got back to my day job, my freelance jobs and blogging and set myself realistic goals that I wanted to achieve.
It was also the month of self-care – something I’d definitely going to make a constant feature throughout the year. I invested in new skincare, took more time for myself to sit and read and I’ve been making healthier lifestyle choices that I hope to continue for the rest of the year.
So without further ado, here are a few things I’ve been enjoying in the exciting month of January.
What I’ve Been Watching
I got obsessed with the End of The F***ing World on Netflix pretty quick. So quick, that I watched it one morning on my day off. This short series consists of 8 episodes around 20 minutes in length and follows Alyssa, a rebellious teenager with an anger issue and James, a quiet lad who believes he is a psychopath as they go on the run. It’s a seriously addictive TV show and something completely different to what I have seen before.
I also finished the latest series of Peaky Blinders. I was so late to the game with Peaky Blinders, but I completely understand the hype and the love for Tommy Shelby.
Finally, right at the end of January I finally got around to watching a documentary about one of the most controversial cases and possibly, one of the most tragic miscarriages of justice, West Memphis 3. I’ve always heard about this case, but I never knew a lot of the details. If you enjoy your true crime documentaries, I’d definitely recommend giving The West of Memphis a watch on Netflix.
Products I’ve Been Loving
In January, I’ve been on a little bit of a Lush hype since I received some lovely little items at Christmas. The two products that I’ve been using regularly is the Lush BB Seaweed Facemask and the Lush Rose Jam. The facemask is one of the most calming and soothing masks I’ve used with hints of seaweed to soothe and soften the skin. The Rose Jam has been a favourite of mine forever, the gorgeous scent of the rose, with a hint of sweetness, is a delight to use on a daily basis.
After the foundation love of my life, Estee Lauder Double Wear ran out at the end of December, I knew I had to wait till payday to invest in a new pot. For the time being, I picked up L’Oreal True Match to keep me going. To my surprise, I absolutely fell in love with it. With its dewy finish and long-lasting formula, it’s quickly become a favourite of mine.
What I’ve Been Reading
January has been quite a slow reading month for me. However, I have managed to finish 3 books, including the 650 page The Secret History by Donna Tartt – what a gripping and amazing book! Other books I managed to finish this month were the thrillers, Blood Sisters by Jane Corry and The Fourteenth Letter by Claire Evans.
What I’ve Been Posting About
It’s been very busy over at Sammy etc this month! Here are just a few blog posts that have featured on my little space of the internet this January.
Blogs I’ve Enjoyed This Month
One of my New Year Resolutions is to share the love a little more. I’ve been terrible at this in the past, so this year I want to make a real effort with this one. So, in these monthly roundup posts, I will be doing a little shout out to bloggers and posts I’ve really been enjoying…
