On one wet and windy afternoon in Manchester, we grabbed our umbrellas and rain-macs and we headed to a little gem in Northern Quarter that I’ve heard so many amazing things about – Sugar Junction Tea Rooms.
As there were no tables available upstairs our party of four were led downstairs to room which I can only describe the decor as granny chic! With the floral wallpaper, tapestry lamp shades and mismatched chairs it did feel like you were visiting your grans for tea – I loved it!
There’s so many choices when it comes to drinks. Not only does it have a varied and long tea menu, the tea room also serves mocktails, wine and coming onto my favourite… milkshakes! Yes, I am a massive child. Whilst the rest of my party tried the coffee and teas that they had to offer, I dived in and picked the chocolatest and biggest milkshake I could – The Brownie Shake.
The Brownie Shake consisted of chunks of their signature chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream, with chocolate sauce and topped with even more brownie. I can’t even explain how nice it was! The brownie was moist and baked to perfection, without being too sweet.
There was so many great vegetarian options available that I had a hard time choosing what I wanted for lunch. The mac n cheese was calling out to me, but in the end I went for the halluomi and pesto toastie with a side of mixed fries (sweet potato and normal) and homemade coleslaw.I just can’t deny halloumi!
As much as I wanted to finish my lunch, unfortunately the Brownie Milkshake had filled a good part of me up already! However, lunch was delicious and I’m already planning my next trip to try out the Mac n Cheese!
